Prague, February 4 – Across Europe, smartEn connects businesses developing solutions that accelerate the transition to clean energy. Their network has now been strengthened by the rising star of the European energy industry – Delta Green. smartEn can accelerate their entry into new European markets.
The solution Delta Green is developing is unique on the European market. They offer flexibility trading to households. Their service allows people to receive financial rewards for shifting their electricity consumption or production in time, thus helping balance the grid and shut down coal-fired power plants sooner. The potential of household flexibility is huge. European household batteries exceeded several gigawatt hours in 2024. The average household reward for flexibility will be around 10 to 25 euros per month.
"We have successfully piloted our product in the Czech Republic, proving households can serve as a source of flexibility in the energy sector and have hidden potential for many electricity suppliers as a new revenue stream. This year we aim to introduce it to other European countries, too. The smartEn network and their detailed overview of requirements of European TSOs can greatly help us with that," comments Delta Green’s product director, Jan Hicl.
"We are thrilled to welcome Delta Green to smartEn’s growing community of innovators. Their commitment to integrating renewable resources and empowering households to participate in grid balancing, aligns perfectly with our mission to advance demand-side flexibility towards a more efficient, sustainable energy system. Together, we can accelerate Europe's clean energy transition," says Michael Villa, Executive Director at smartEn.
Delta Green and smartEn’s collaboration will foster joint activities on the potential and power of flexibility that lies untapped in hundreds of thousands of European households today.
